Beloved in Christ,
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
First of all I wish you all a very happy Christmas. According to St. Luke Chapter 2, verses 10 and 11 ” Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord”.
Let us meditate for a few minutes on the message of the Angels, “Good news of great joy”. This is precisely what the gospel is. It is not a philosophy or a creed, but it is a way of life.
It is a good news from God to all men, the proclamation that God cares. And because He cares, He has entered the human life in person as His son Jesus Christ and He abides in us forever. Lord Tennyson said ” old news, new news, and the good news”. Christmas comes once again and we know that the day springs from on high and has visited us to give light to them that sit in darkness and to guide our feet in the way of peace.
First of all the Christmas message was given to the poor shepherds, which is very significant. Commentators point out that these shepherds were engaged in a very special job. They were tending the flocks especially setting apart for temple sacrifices. The good shepherd visits his flocks and gives this message to other shepherds. We should always remember the Nazareth declaration about the Messianic mission. “He has sent me to announce the good news to the poor”. The church has taken almost twenty centuries to recapture this vision given to the world by our Lord. It is now only we have begun to realize that our primary duty is to attend the needs of the common man .
May God bless you all
Yours in Christ,
