Warm Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
One more month has passed. Let us give thanks and praise to God Almighty for His marvelous guidance given to us during the last month. We had God’s blessing on our Harvest Festival by providing good climate and we had the participation of many people from various churches. Once again thank all the church members, especially Mr. Jagan Jacob, the general convener, all conveners and leaders of all organizations.
The month of November is an important month for us. Sunday School Day, Girl Child Day and Day of Unity are the joyous occasions in this month. We are also organizing our Parish Convention on second week of this month, which is a time for revival, renewal and re-education. As a united church, we celebrate unity day on 13th November 2015. Church unity is one of the relevant subject among Christian denominations. The Church of South India is a united and uniting Church, based on the high Priestly – prayer of Jesus Christ. In John 17:21 Jesus prayed “I pray that they may all be one. Father, may they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you”. This verse was the key verse of the formation of Church of South India. There is a councilor union of CSI with Church of North India and Mar Thoma Church for the past so many years with the ecumenical hope and the inclusive spirit to be united under one banner at the national level. But this union did not progress as it was expected. But since last ten years these churches entered in to a new fellowship known as Communion of Churches in India. The other important reasonable goal is to equip the efficiency of girl child.
Over the last 15 years, the global community has made significant progress in improving the lives of girls during early childhood. In 2015, girls in the first decade of life are more likely enroll in primary school, receive key vaccinations, and are less likely to suffer from health and nutrition problems than were previous generations. How ever, there has been insufficient investment in addressing the challenges girls face when they enter the second decade of their lives. This includes obtaining quality secondary and higher education and safe guard them from child abuses.
As the global community launches the Sustainable Development Goals for implementation over the next 15 years, it is a good time to recognize the achievements made in supporting young girls, while at the same time aspiring to support the current and upcoming generation of adolescent girls, to truly fulfill their potential as key actors in achieving a sustainable and equitable world. In recognition of the importance of investing in adolescent girls’ empowerment and rights, both today and in future, the theme of International Day of the girl child for 2015 is The Power of the Adolescent Girl: Vision for 2030.
