Dear Yokefellows in Christ,

It is my great pleasure to be a humble servant of St. Paul’s CSI Congregation for a short period. I have been fortunate to have your great hospitality and cooperation with in these days. Thanking God for Johny Andrews Achen for his extended service towards church and C.C Sabu achen who will be reaching shortly to partake your love for the coming years. Appreciate all teachers who served in the Sunday school for the year 2013-2014 with enthusiasm and dedication.

Pentecost Sunday (we celebrate on 6th of June) is a commemoration and celebration of the receiving of the Holy Spirit by the early church.

PentecostSunday2012After Jesus’ ascension to heaven, the men returned to Jerusalem and joined together in prayer in an upper room. On the Day of Pentecost, just as promised, the sound of a violent wind filled the house and tongues of fire came to rest on each of them and all were filled with the Holy Spirit. After the coming of the Holy Spirit, the disciples did not stay in the room basking in God’s glory but burst out to tell the world. This was the beginning of the church as we know it.

The celebration of Pentecost Sunday reminds us of the reality that we all have the unifying Spirit that was poured out upon the first-century church. This gift of the Holy Spirit that was promised and given to all believers on the first Pentecost is promised for you and your children and for all who are far off whom theLord our God will call (Acts 2:39).

Trinity Sunday (we celebrate on 13th of June) is the first Sunday after Pentecost to honor the Holy Trinity—the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The concept of the trinity can never be completely understood or rationalized, but it is clearly taught in Scripture. It is appropriate that this mystery is celebrated the first Sunday after Pentecost, when the outpouring of the Holy Spirit first occurred.

We remember the Father as our Creator, the Son as our Savior and the Holy Spirit as our Comforter. The Father is God from the beginning (John 1:1); Jesus revealed Himself as equal to the Father in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” Together, they sent the Holy Spirit (John 14:26). “For there are three that bear record in Heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one” (1 John 5:7-11).

Christian discipleship – (we meditate on June 27th) A Christian disciple is a person who accepts and assists in the spreading of the good news of Jesus Christ. Christian discipleship is the process by which disciples grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts, to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and become more and more Christ like. This requires that we be in the Word daily – studying it, praying over it, and obeying it. In addition, we should always be ready to give testimony of the reason for the hope that is within us.

Next three months, most of you will be in visiting your mother land to have fellowship with the dear ones so my prayers, for your safe journey.

Yours in Christ,

Samjiachen.
